Bears are also very good climbers, so even if they don’t feel like tearing a hole in your chain link fence, they might go over it.

How to Prevent Bears Getting Through Or Over Your Chain Link Fence
The good news is that even if the answer to the question can a bear get through a chain link fence is not what you wanted to hear, there are steps you can take to prevent them from getting through your fence.
The solution is to add electric fence wires on the outside face of your chain link fence.
An electric fence is an excellent bear deterrent, and because it can be installed using solar panels, it can be used in even the most remote locations.
