Chicken wire is a form of small aperture hexagonal mesh that is often used for agricultural fencing, including chicken coops and runs, which is how it got it's name.

In addition to having smaller apertures, chicken wire is also made from thinner wire, and it is usually sold in shorter (vertically) rolls. So while you might be able to get a 4 foot high or 1200mm chicken wire product, you might struggle to find higher options.

This type of mesh is lower cost, which makes it perfect for applications like chicken runs or to protect garden beds from pests, but it's not a very secure type of mesh.

Hexagonal netting like chicken wire is also made slightly differently to chain link fabric, since it the wires are twisted together rather than weaving them.
